Caleb Takes Steamboat part 2

Unlike last week, we haven’t had any major obstacles (knock on wood) and we’ve had more days on the hill. After the new year and riding Arapahoe Basin, we spent a day at Aspen Snowmass on Aspen Mountain. snowboarding It was one of the best days of snowboarding I’ve had all season! Timing wise, it seemed as though we hit it perfectly to be riding tree runs, pillow lines and rock drops into untracked knee to thigh deep powder. My family left the next day as did Taylor and I. We drove to Kremmling, CO where the camper had been parked while my family was in town and we decided to spend one night there and head to Steamboat Resort the next morning.

Steamboat has been having a winter for the record books, with a season total of 218.0”, as of January 9th. Those numbers are nothing less than epic! We have been here for five days now and have already enjoyed two days of new snow totaling 9”-13”. snowfall Early this week we might see another 14” forecasted for a five-day forecast. We may finally be in the right place at the right time. I will say that there has been no lack in fog! Towards the top of the mountain, you could barely see the chair in front of you when riding up the lift. It was definitely a brain exercise to make turns when you couldn’t see the terrain below you. If you are devoted to spending a long day on the mountain, be sure to take a break at 3:00pm to grab from free hot coco and a donut at the wagon near the amphitheater.

chairliftSome of our favorite runs here at the Boat have been off the Sunshine Express lift as well as Storm Peak Express. We have enjoyed exploring this mountain and love riding the glades here through all the Aspen groves and the really fun hike access terrain! Peterglenn.com has been such an awesome partner of our snowy adventures! If you are interested in daily updates fallow @taylorasselbury or me @cebthebeast on Instagram. See ya next week!
